The Renaissance Journalism Center targets independent news outlets (including print, broadcast and online) that specialize in serving the special needs of local communities, ethnic/cultural groups, and other groups, such as the gay and lesbian community, disability community, etc.

Two interlocking strategies will power the Renaissance Journalism Project:

·      The Summer Institute: An annual series of classes, workshops and conferences providing training in journalism, multimedia skills, online practices, newsroom management, business development and other topics.

·      The Media Greenhouse: A mini-grant program to incubate and test innovative models for gathering and distributing news, utilizing new online technologies and engaging with the community.
